I've seen a couple of things while teaching...

I am an experienced Social Science secondary education teacher with a clear credential from California. Before becoming a  teacher I was in a MBA program and successfully held positions in Operations, Customer Service, Computer Applications, and Cost Management with various companies.

I have worked with most demographic groups and communities in California and feel comfortable in all settings. I have taught a wide spectrum of students with various academic abilities ranging from advanced high school courses, to those of Limited English and “at risk” conditions... I enjoy teaching all students regardless of their academic preparation. As the new California Content Standards are revealed and the Common Core Standards are already defined, I ensure to align course content within the Social Sciences.

It is my philosophy that all students, regardless of academic level, can benefit from higher expectations as long as the building blocks have been set first. I am of the belief that any course can be enriched to make it meaningful and thought-provoking in order to stimulate student’s understanding and retention of the material. Favoring research in any level, I integrate critical thinking into my coursework alongside content knowledge, I use both formative and summative assessments to determine true progress and learning. I am well versed in both teacher-centered and learner-centered learning. In addition to seeking to improve content knowledge and understanding, my assignments and projects encourage students to communicate thoughts and ideas effectively in alignment with grade level expectations through speech, written and other creative means like technology.
